Hole 1 – Fangs

The first hole on the Serpent is the longest hole on the course. Virtually unreachable in 2, this hole will take 3 solid shots to have a chance at birdie. Out of bounds lines the right side of this hole and a fraction of the massive serpent pond sneaks out to guard the green.

Hole 2 – Headstone

A hole that rewards those who have worked on their short irons. Not very long in length and a precise shot could offer you a great chance at birdie.

Hole 3 – Serpent’s Tail

The massive Serpent pond really comes into play on this 3rd hole. From the blue and white tees you will have to carry water off your tee shot. The pond runs all the way along the left side of this hole. On your approach shot be sure not to fly the green as their is a creek that runs right behind this green.

Hole 4 – Sanctuary

This long dogleg right can be shortened by the longer hitters. Off the tee you can take your shot over the first few trees at the corner to have a short iron in. But be aware, a shot too far right may reach the pond and if it’s not long enough will be out of bounds. So be safe and play it down the fairway. On your approach it is better to be short than long as it is out of bounds just past the green.

Hole 5 – Rivando's Revenge

The only hole on the Serpent where water does not come into play. A straight away par 4 along Lorraine Rd that if kept in the fairway can get you a birdie.

Hole 6 – Tanker

The signature hole on the Serpent where you can tee off from an elevated tee built on top of a cement tank. A very tricky par 5 with many hazards that can come into play. Hit your tee shot just short of the creek (260yds). Your second shot can be placed at the 100yd marker giving you a short iron into the deep green. The fairway tapers towards the green so if you plan on going for this bad boy in 2, you had better be very accurate.

Hole 7 – Moonshine

The toughest par 3 on the course with an “Island Green” type feel will be a test for every player. With the wind normally into the players face and the pond placing a gap in between the tee and green it is imperative that you have the right club to make it to green.

Hole 8 – Schouten Strait

After a tough par 3 this short par 4 may allow you to gain a shot back. With the only hazards being water directly in front of the tee and a bunker guarding the front left of the green.

Hole 9 – Homeward

Making your way home on the final hole of the Serpent brings you away from the expansive waters that cover 7 out of the 9 holes on the serpent. What a relief! A good tee shot should leave a short iron and a chance at birdie with a beautiful Victorian style home in the background. We hope you enjoyed your round and make your way to the 28th hole for a beverage or two.

About The Serpent Course

An aerial view of the Serpent course explains its name – the expansive serpent-shaped pond comes into play on five different holes on this gently-rolling, links-style nine. The prevailing southwest breeze off Lake Erie is almost always a factor and will make for a few treacherous shots where there is little room to err. #6 on Serpent is our “Signature” hole.
